Should I include YouTube Shorts in my sponsorship package?

Negotiating a deal with a creator who posts both long-form and Shorts. They're asking for an add-on fee for Shorts placements. Is it worth it?

Answer

Shorts as a standalone sponsorship placement are rarely worth a premium unless the creator's Shorts are consistently getting 500K+ views each. The audience is in a scroll mindset and ad recall is much lower than in long-form dedicated integrations. That said, as a *bundle add-on* at a flat fee for a dedicated mention or pinned comment link, it can make sense — especially if you're trying to hit younger audiences who primarily consume Shorts.

We always negotiate Shorts as a +20–30% add-on to the long-form rate, never as a standalone deal. The creator gets incremental revenue, we get additional touchpoints, and it prevents the awkward situation where a Shorts viewer clicks through and then can't find the sponsored product mentioned in the long-form video.
